Railway Budget States - Andhra Pradesh AP seeks new trains, higher allocations in railway budget Our Bureau Hyderabad, Nov. 9 Andhra Pradesh has sought over Rs 1,000 crore as allocation in the railway budget 2009-10 for completion of projects and introducing trains. A request in the regard was sent to the Union Minister for Railways, Mr Lalu Prasad, by the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, according to a release. The State Government had requested for increase of allocations for railway projects, including Kotipalli-Narspur project, Nandyal-Yerranguntla, Muneerabad-Mahabubnagar, Macharla-Nalgonda Gadwal – Raichur, Kakinada-Pithapuram,Kadapa – Bangalore, Obulavaripalli – Krishnapatnam, Jagtiyal – Nizamabad and Manoharabad – Kothapalli projects. The Government has requested the Railway Minister to sanction over Rs 1,000 crore to help speedy completion of the projects. The State Government had also requested for over a dozen railway lines in the State to boost trade, commerce and industrial development. This includes lines between Kadapa-Bangalore via Madanapalli, Manuguru-Ramagundam, Nadikudi-Srikalahasti, Bhadrachalam–Kovvur. In addition, Medak should be connected with the Secunderabad-Nizamabad line at Akkanapet on one side and Medchal on other side. “This is a fast growing industrial area and this line serves backward areas of Telangana,” it said.
