AP education recast plan

Hyderabad, Nov. 9

The Andhra Pradesh Government will be restructuring the school education and is planning to bifurcate it into primary and secondary education, in which the intermediate would be merged. A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, at a review meeting with the officials of the Department of Education, according to a release. Primary education would include Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan (SSA) and the merger of intermediate education with seco ndary education would significantly help in improving the quality of education, Dr Reddy said. The Chief Minister earlier asked the officials concerned to study the education models being implemented in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala in this direction and identify the processes involved in the bifurcation for issuing the necessary orders at the earliest. —
