Kochi, Nov. 10 Bangalore-based Serena Spa Pvt Ltd has taken over the management of Punnamada Resort in Alappuzha and relaunched it with several packages.

The resort’s new layout is that of a typical village. It has 26 well-furnished heritage-style villas with a view of the Vembanad Lake, where the Nehru Trophy Boat Race takes place. The resort, christened Punnamada Serena Spa Resort, offers elegantly furnished guest rooms with an array of in-room amenities.

Five duplex rooms are set in a traditional environment with a large sitting area and an upper deck bedroom offering a view of the property.

Thirteen garden villas are equipped with amenities such as multi-channel TV, mini bar and special bathroom. A night stay in a houseboat forms a part of the package offered by the resort.

Besides, the resort offers a wide range of water sports during the day including paddle boats, speed boats, water scooters and motor boat cruises and a fully-equipped activity room with billiards, snooker and table tennis table.

Mr Jesper Hougaard, Managing Director of Serena Spa Pvt Ltd, said that Punnamada Resort is a jewel among Kerala resorts with unique architecture and a charming location. “We are very excited about adding this to Serena Spa’s portfolio,” he said.

Serena Spa also operates spas in several countries and in India, the company has presence in Delhi, Udaipur, Kochi and Bangalore. The company has plans to open spas in Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune early next year.

Punnamada Serena Spa Resort will be the company’s first Lifestyle Destination Spa in May 2009, Mr Hougaard added.
