Hyderabad, Nov. 10 East Coast Energy Ltd, now in the process of securing clearances for a 2,640 MW coal-based plant near Bhavanapadu in Srikakulum district of the State, has received nod to create a Rs 600-crore jetty to meet the fuel evacuation needs.

The Andhra Pradesh cabinet on Monday approved the development of jetty based on the recommendations of LT Ramboll Consultants and the Director of Ports.

This will pave the way for construction of a dedicated captive jetty at Megavaram to handle dry bulk cargo, particularly imported coal from Indonesian and Australian mines.

While the payment, landing and shipping charges will be paid to the State Government, all statutory port charges will accrue to the Director of Ports.

MORE FUNDS

In another decision, the cabinet approved additional payment for beedi leaf collectors during 2008 season onwards.

HIKES PROJECT COST

The Government today approved increase in cost of the Pranhitha-Chevella lift irrigation project from Rs 34,860 crore to Rs 38,500 crore by adding another 4.2 lakh acres to the earlier planned 12.2 lakh acres to be brought under cultivation.
