Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 10 The delegation from Kerala, led by the State Industries Minister, Mr Elamaram Kareem, and the State Tourism Minister, Mr Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, has received more investment queries from the US.

In Washington DC, the team visited the plant of GE Healthcare for the manufacture of incubators and other devices for infant care. A cooperation agreement was signed in the presence of the team between SFO Technologies, a company in the Kochi-based NeST Group, and GE Healthcare.

NeST Group is a supplier and assembler for GE Healthcare. The cooperation agreement comes in the wake of GE Healthcare’s plans for further expansion of its activities in India, according to an official statement from the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation.

The delegation visited the headquarters of Marriott Corporation in Bethesda, Maryland, and held discussions with top officials of the corporation about its plans for India. It emerged from the meeting that the corporation was in the process of opening more number of hotels in different categories across India and that Kerala was high in its priority list.

The delegation signed a memorandum of understanding with Opterna, a company based in Washington DC and engaged in the manufacture of high-end electronic equipment and systems. The MoU pertains to the company’s plan to set up a manufacturing facility in Kerala.

In New Jersey, the Kerala team visited the manufacturing facility of EPV Solar, which is setting up a plant in Kinfra-NeST SEZ, near Kochi, for the production of photovoltaic panels. The proposed investment in the facility is around Rs 4,000 crore.
