Cyberpark planned for Kozhikode

Our Bureau

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 12 A cyberpark on the lines of Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram and Infopark in Kochi will be set up in Kozhikode.

A society will be formed for the implementation of the project and the State Cabinet at its meeting on Wednesday approved the bylaws for the society.

The Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, said after the Cabinet meeting that the land acquisition for city development of Kozhikode would be included in the fast-track mechanism.

Housing scheme

He said that local self-governments would be involved in the EMS Housing Scheme that aims at providing houses to all eligible families in the State. The local self-Governments would earmark 15 per cent of their annual plans for the scheme.

The Chief Minister said that the Centre’s refusal to reduce the prices of petroleum products in the country even after the price of crude oil had come down in the international market was not justified. He urged the Centre to take immediate steps to bring down prices.

In order to check the use of forged documents for land sales, the registration rules would be amended with the provision for cancellation of the registration if the documents were found to be forged, he said.
