Promotions & Offers Variety - Tourism Singapore Tourism’s ‘kids free’ X’mas offer Our Bureau Bangalore, Nov. 12 Singapore is all set to get transformed into “Candy Land” this year-end! Tourists can expect to see streets undergoing a sweet transformation, dripping with gumdrops, liquorice, candy canes and jellybeans, and also the famous Christmas Light Up adding to the year-end festivities from November 15 to January 2, 2009. The Singapore Tourism Board plans to make holidays in Singapore the sweetest ever with its ‘Christmas in the Tropics 2008’ promotion themed “Sweet Christmas” this year. The tourism board, along with Singapore Airlines, has launched the ‘Kids Free’ campaign where for every two full-paying adults, two kids below 12 years will fly, get bed and breakfast options across 17 partnering hotels and admissions to all sightseeing attractions in Singapore “free”, said Mr Kiran Bhandari, Area Director – Southern India, Sri Lanka and Maldives, Singapore Tourism Board. Singapore is a key outbound family destination in the region and the ‘Kids Free’ campaign would help “families save a lot on airfare, accommodation and sightseeing expenses” and thus indulge in more shopping, he added. The taxes and surcharges part of the air ticket would only be charged for kids, which would be about Rs 10,000, thus enabling savings of about Rs 15,000 per child just on the airfare, said Mr Louis Arul, Manager – Karnataka, Singapore Airlines. This offer from Singapore Airlines is available only for flights on the Bangalore-Singapore sector, he said. The sale period, which is till November 30 for outbound travel till December 24, could be extended depending on the demand. Further, kids on board its flights (with the exception of the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur services) would be given Cartoon Network giveaways, including activity kits and plush toys.
