Tele Atlas Kalyani inks pact with Survey of India

Pune, Nov. 14 The national surveying and mapping organisation Survey of India (SoI) has entered into an agreement with Tele Atlas Kalyani India (TAKI) to allow it to release the first of the SoI-approved digital maps of India and custom map content within the public domain.

The maps can find commercial use in a range of navigation and location-based solutions in the mobile, internet, automotive personal navigation systems and enterprise markets.

Mr Mark Steele, Chief Operating Officer, Tele Atlas Asia Pacific said, “Tele Atlas is committed to the growth of navigation technologies in India. We want to ensure that customers have high-quality digital maps and content to develop successful navigation and location-based solutions and applications.”

Coverage

As on Friday, TAKI announced the availability of Tele Atlas digital maps of India covering 5,463 sub-districts, 593 districts and 35 States and Union Territories.

It includes detailed street coverage for approximately 109,000 kilometres in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi national capital region (including Faridabad, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida and Bahadurgarh), Hyderabad-Secunderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Navi Mumbai and Pune.

Tele Atlas’ new map offering of India covers the complete national highway network, including expressways, and national and State highways encompassing 162,000 km.

TAKI, formerly Kalyani Net Ventures Ltd, is a 60:40 joint venture between Tele Atlas Asia Pacific and the Kalyani Group formed in April 2008.
