Software Industry & Economy - SSI IBM unveils ‘Smart Business’ for SMEs Our Bureau Pune, Nov.18 IBM has announced the availability of ‘IBM Smart Business’, applications for small and medium enterprises. Pune was chosen for the global launch of Smart Business. Mr Ramesh Narasimhan, Director, General Business, IBM India/South Asia, said IBM Smart Business would be available from November 21. It will include Smart market, a Web-enabled one-stop SMB marketplace for clients to collaborate with other clients, industry experts and vendors, Smart cube, designed to deliver integrated solutions directly to the client, and Smart desk, a Web-enabled dashboard that the client could use as a single point of contact for maintenance, from updating applications automatically or subscribing to an on-demand service. The pricing would be in the Rs 10-15 lakh range depending on the applications required. Pilot projectMr Narasimhan said the pilot project had started a month ago and Smart Business is being made available in the Western region in the initial phase. The pan-India launch would be completed early next year. It is being made available in the Maharashtra and Gujarat region with an initial focus on the manufacturing and textile sectors.
