Steady exports



Up marginally: Chilli powder packing in progress at a curry powder manufacturing unit near Kochi in Kerala. In the first eight months this year, 1.215 lakh tonnes of chilli and its products worth Rs 660 crore were exported against 1.214 lakh tonnes valued at Rs 658 crore during the same period a year ago. Chilli exports have been steady on usual demand from countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Sri Lanka besides lower production in other growing countries. -K.K. Mustafah
