HC directive to PepsiCo on Aquafina packaging

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Nov. 21 A Delhi High Court judgment has reportedly directed Pepsico India to remove the picture of a “snow capped mountain” from the packaging of its bottled water brand Aquafina.

The court passed the direction on a petition filed by the Bureau of Indian Standards, which had challenged an earlier directive allowing the use of that image. The objection was to the suggestion that the packaged mineral water originated in the mountains.

The court has directed Pepsi to remove the “snow capped mountain” within six months and add the phrase “as per BIS standard” to its label along with its “purity guaranteed” phrase.
