Our Bureau Mumbai, Nov. 22 Tata Motors has decided to shut down its Jamshedpur plant from November 25 to 29. When contacted, the company spokesperson confirmed this. The Jamshedpur plant, where Tata Motors makes heavy trucks, had been closed down for three days from November 6. This is the second closure of the plant announced this month and is in addition to a one-week closure of its Pimpri and Lucknow plants. Component suppliers to Tata Motors indicated that the commercial vehicle plants of Tata Motors may see another round of temporary closures in December too. “We have been told about the latest shutdown. We expect a shutdown in December too,” said sources. However, the company spokesperson denied any such move happening in December, reiterating that “Tata Motors has not taken any such decision”. According to him, all this finally depended on the prevailing inventory position and customer demand, and indicated that the high interest rate was the biggest deterrent. silver liningThe silver lining in the cloud for Tata Motors is that the new Pantnagar plant in Uttarakhand, which is home to the Ace pickup, is operating smoothly. This could soon see small numbers of the much-awaited Rs 1-lakh Nano too in the coming months. More Stories on : Cars | Outlook | Tata Motors Ltd
