The Centre is scheduled to call a meeting with power project developers early next month to discuss relief measures in light of reports of promoters facing difficulties in tying up funds for projects in the pipeline. “The Ministry (of Power) is calling a meeting of the power developers in the first week of December to access the situation... We will provide a helping hand and they will have the support of the Government,” the Power Secretary, Mr Anil Razdan, to ld reporters here. Besides, the financing aspect, the status of fuel tie-up, land and water availability issues of the power project developers would also be assessed. On reports that banks are wary of large exposure in the power sector, Mr Razdan said, “There is no reason for banks to shy away from the power sector.”
