Tea Lower volumes on offer at Coonoor tea auctions P.S. Sundar Coonoor, Nov. 26 Arrival of tea at the Coonoor Tea Trade Association (CTTA) auction continues to follow a declining trend with the brokers’ catalogues for Sale No: 48 to be held tomorrow and Friday totalling 14.98 lakh kg against the offer of 15.5 lakh kg last week and 16.51 lakh kg a fortnight ago. But, it is almost six lakh kg more than the offer this time last year. Fresh arrivals account for 12.25 lakh kg of the 14.98 lakh kg on offer. The balance comprises teas remaining unsold in previous auctions. Leaf & dustOf the 14.98 lakh kg on offer, 10.18 lakh kg belong to the leaf grades and 4.80 lakh kg belong to the dust grades. Again, as much as 14.19 lakh kg belong to CTC variety and only 0.79 lakh kg, orthodox variety. In the leaf counter, only 0.38 lakh kg belong to orthodox while 9.80 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 0.41 lakh kg belong to orthodox while 4.39 lakh kg, CTC. Auctioneers said prices could improve if demand firms up.
