‘Smart City bound by SEZ policy’

Our Bureau

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 26 The proposed Smart City in Kochi is bound by the provisions contained in the policy on Special Economic Zone (SEZ) announced by the State Government recently, according to the Minister for Law and Ports, Mr M. Vijayakumar.

Replying to questions in the State Assembly on Wednesday, Mr Vijayakumar, who was deputising for the Industries Minister, Mr Elamaram Kareem, said that no one had been exempted from the purview of the policy.

All laws, including the Industrial Disputes Act, were applicable to SEZs and the Government would not allow exploitation of labour within the zones.
