Adani returns to safety from The Taj attack

Mr Gautam Adani

Virendra Pandit

Ahmedabad, Nov. 27 When his personal commando hurriedly called him to inform at 9.30 p.m. on Wednesday about the gunshots being fired outside The Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai, little did industrialist Gautam Adani realise that he would have to hide in the hotel for the rest of the night of blood and gore.

His nightmare came to an end only when he was able to come out almost 12 hours after the terror attack started on the century-old hotel in the financial capital of the country.

After leaving the terrorist-infested precincts along with others at 9 a.m. this morning, he returned here around noon. Mr Adani was attending a dinner last night while his commando was waiting for him outside the hotel.

At around 9.30 p.m., when the commando heard some gunshots, he promptly urged his boss to stay put inside until normalcy returned. As soon as the enormity of the situation unfolded, the hotel staff huddled him and others into the safety of a room. Thereafter, Mr Adani kept in touch with his bodyguard via SMS until early this morning.

His worried family members and staff, who had come to know about the situation last night itself, heaved a sigh of relief when he returned, sources close to the industrialist told Business Line here.
