Airlines States - Maharashtra Flight operations near normal in Mumbai Our Bureau New Delhi, Nov. 27 The operations of most domestic and international flights from-and-to Mumbai airport have not been affected by the untoward incidents in the city. The airlines are, however, advising passengers to reach the airport well in advance of the flight and carry valid photo identification so that they do not face any problems at the airport. A senior Mumbai airport official told Business Line that while some domestic airlines were combining flights, most carriers were operating as scheduled. “Some flights have been combined as passengers have been unable to reach the airport. On Wednesday night three international airlines — NorthWest Airlines, Lufthansa and Air France — cancelled their flights as the crew could not reach the airport in time,” the Mumbai airport official said. The airline crew were said to have been in one of the hotels seized by the alleged terrorists and although they were rescued after a protracted operation they could reach the airport only hours after the scheduled departure time of the flight. Air India, Jet Airways, its 100 per cent subsidiary Jetlite’, IndiGo Airlines and SpiceJet — all said that operations into and out of Mumbai “largely remained unaffected” and most flights were on schedule. Kingfisher Airlines, however, announced that it was combining some flights, including the Delhi-Mumbai service, which was operated along with the flight to Bangalore. Waiving charges“We are not changing any of our planned schedules or operations to and from Mumbai so that passengers are not inconvenienced,” the President, IndiGo Airlines, Mr Aditya Ghosh, said. Some domestic airlines, including SpiceJet and Jet Airways, have also waived charges for those making changes in their travel plans. SpiceJet’s President, Mr Sanjay Aggarwal, said the airline is offering all passengers who missed their flights or chose not to take them or go through Mumbai, now have the choice of either rescheduling their flights, getting a total refund or creating a credit shell with the airline. Jet Airways and JetLite have also announced the waiver of cancellation and re-issue charges on their domestic and international services into and out of Mumbai, till November 28, due to the current situation in Mumbai.
