Science & Technology CII-ISRO space meet opens today BSX 2008 will showcase the latest space technological advancements, products and technical services while providing a platform for space agencies, specialists, entrepreneurs and space industry heavyweights to display their visions. Our Bureau Bangalore, Nov. 28 A CII-ISRO co-hosted international conference and expo on space commerce and technologies that opens here on Saturday is largely going on as planned, except for five participants backing out after the Mumbai attacks, a key person in the organising team said. Till Friday evening, two speakers from French defence-aerospace company Thales and five members from a Saudi Arabian team had dropped out of the three-day meet, the source told Business Line. CII, ISRO and Antrix Corporation are jointly hosting the Bengaluru Space Expo (BSX 2008) and the concurrent international conference, World Space-Biz. While the organisers have not named them – as is the practice - representatives of a host of global space majors are participating in the conference or in the exhibition. Among them are Arianespace, European Space Agency ESA; Israeli Space Agency, Malaysia’s MEASAT, Intelsat, Infinisat of USA, Thaicom, Ukraine’s Yuzhnove, ScanEx from Russia, Avanti Communications Group plc, Asia Broadcast Satellite (HK) Ltd, Boeing company Spectrolab Inc; New India Assurance, Sea International Space Brokers, Space Corporation, United Space Alliance (USA), besides Zee and Tata Sky. BSX 2008 will showcase the latest space technological advancements, products and technical services while providing a platform for space agencies, specialists, entrepreneurs and space industry heavyweights to display their visions. World Space-Biz would provide a platform for the global and international space industry, space agencies, academia and scientific community, vendors and suppliers to discuss commercial prospects for the space industry. It would discuss issues such as access to space, space commercialisation, space adventure, tourism and exploration and risk management.
