Rs 22.8 cr earmarked for IT park works

Our Correspondent

Madurai, Nov. 28 A sum of Rs 22.80 crore has been earmarked to begin infrastructure works at the proposed information technology parks at Illanthaikulam and Vadapalanji.

The decision was taken at a high level consultative committee meeting in which the District Collector, Mr P. Seetharaman; ELCOT Managing Director, Mr Santosh Babu; and other officials participated.

While IT companies such as HCL Technologies, Honeywell Technology Solutions, Satyam Computers and Sutherland Global Services would be establishing their facilities on a 90-year lease agreement at Illanthaikulam, an integrated IT complex with facilities on the lines of a special economic zone will be coming up at Vadapalanji. An IT Park Steering committee to co-ordinate the works has been formed with the District Collector as Chairman. The works will begin on December 5, a press release from the Collectorate said.
