Our Bureau New Delhi, Dec 1 Travel agents have threatened not to sell air tickets on domestic and international flights operated by Jet Airways and its 100 per cent subsidiary, JetLite, from December 4 unless the airlines reintroduces commission for the agents. This decision was taken at a meeting of various travel agents body here on Monday. “Getting a commission is our right. If the airline does not revert back to a commission system which was scrapped from November 1 this year, we will boycott them,” the President of Travel Agents Association of India, Mr Rajji Rai, told newspersons. The industry body refused to divulge as to why only Jet Airways and JetLite were being singled out when other airlines, including Kingfisher and Air India (domestic), have also done away with the commission system. “Jet and JetLite are prominent airlines. Besides, it is part of our strategy,” said Mr Rai without getting into details. The travel agents community is also demanding that airlines pay commission on the entire fare and not just the basic fare.
