Fillip to SSIs in Vizag

Visakhapatnam, Dec. 1

The State Government is encouraging small-scale units in Visakhapatnam district to provide support services and products to the many major units coming up in and around the city, according to Mr L. Laxman, General Manager of the district industries centre.

In a press release issued here on Monday on the eve of SSI Day, he said there were 39,000 small and micro enterprises in the district and several more were coming up and the sickness rate was much lower in comparison with other districts in the State.

He said the State was extending assistance to entrepreneurs under the "pavala vaddi" scheme. Under the scheme, the State Government would bear 9 per cent of the interest on term loans for all categories of entrepreneurs and for the SC/STs the scheme was applicable to even working capital.

The AP State Financial Corporation, acting as the nodal agency, was extending a number of other benefits to SC/ST industrialists. - Our Bureau
