Dalmia Cement commissions AP plant

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd has commissioned a 2.25-million-tonne greenfield cement project in Kadapa , Andhra Pradesh, according to a press release from the company.

Mr Gautam Dalmia, Joint Managing Director, Dalmia Cement, lighted the kiln and launched the operation.

This takes the company’s annual cement production capacity to 5.75 million tonnes including the output from its two other plants in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The company has another project under implementation at Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu. Dalmia Cement expects to commission this 2.25-million-tonne unit in 2009.

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) has announced major expansion plans through a subsidiary, Dalmia Cements Ventures Ltd, which is to invest more than Rs 4,000 crore over the next three years to add 10 million tonnes production capacity.

On the stock exchange, the company’s shares of Rs 2 closed at Rs 72.30 against the previous close of Rs 76.70.
