Pune, Dec. 2 Close on the heels of a five-day block closure of its commercial vehicle plant at Pimpri last month (November 22-27), Tata Motors has declared a second closure from December 5-7. The action has been necessitated by the pile-up of inventory following a slow down in the sector, company officials said. According to the provision in the agreement of 2001, for 12 days block closure every year, the management staff is required to apply for leave for the entire period of closure. The unionised staff is required to apply for leave for 50 per cent of the period while the remaining is treated as a working day. Though news of a third closure due from December 26-28 was also being discussed, the Tata Motors spokesperson said that no decision had been taken on the matter to date. "The situation is dynamic and the company will take a call when necessary," he said. - Our BureauMore Stories on : Performance | HCV/LCV/Tractors | Tata Motors Ltd | Maharashtra
