BL Research Bureau Kalindee Rail Nirman has bagged a track-work contract worth Rs 100 crore for the Delhi Airport Express Link project, which holds significance on many counts. For one, it reflects favourably on the company’s execution skills, as the company had previously laid a substantial portion of the tracks for the Delhi Metro Rail project (with the help of technology from its foreign partner). Second, it provides the much-needed push to the company’s order book, which is now pegged at about Rs 550 crore (about 2.2 times its FY08 revenues). The company is involved in the field of signalling, gauge conversion and track-laying for the Indian Railways. These orders may also serve as a reference point for future orders for the company with many cities such as Mumbai and Chennai looking to establish Metro Rail links. The 22-km Airport Express Metro Rail project, which seeks to connect New Delhi station to the Indira Gandhi International airport, with an onward connection to Sector 21 of Dwarka, will involve laying tracks on partly elevated and partly underground link.
