Single-window system to monitor tourism works

The Kerala Government is planning to introduce a single-window system to monitor and coordinate tourism development works being implemented by various departments, said the Minister for Home and Tourism, Mr Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
Answering questions in the State Assembly on Tuesday, the Minister said that the global economic crisis and the terrorist attacks in Mumbai had not yet affected tourist arrivals in the State. The Government had devised a new marketing strategy to overcome the crisis and promote the State as a safe tourism destination. Besides, Tourism Destination Development Councils had been set up.
Coastal policing
In reply to another question, he said that the Government would strengthen all coastal police stations in the State in the wake of the terrorist attack in Mumbai. All the 66 stations would be equipped to prevent terrorist incursions through the sea. Also, cyber crime cells would be opened in all the districts.
The digital radio information system, already set up in the State capital, would be introduced in Kochi and Kozhikode. There was also a proposal to establish evening munsif magistrate courts in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode and these courts would function from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Transport project
The Minister for Works, Mr Mons Joseph, said in reply to a question that the Government planned to avail itself of loans for the second phase of the Kerala State Transport Project (KSTP). This was estimated to cost Rs 1,300 crore, he added.
The Minister for Cooperation and Devaswom, Mr G. Sudhakaran, informed the House that the income at Sabarimala hill shrine had gone up this year. The income during the first 10 days was Rs 14.65 crore, which marked an increase of Rs 5.79 crore from the collections recorded last year.
