‘Energy efficiency can enable lower operating costs’
L.N. Revathy
Coimbatore, Dec. 2 “Being energy efficient and environmentally responsible can contribute significantly towards lowering operating costs, particularly in times of economic slowdown. It will also help boost the company’s ‘green’ image,” Mr Pankaj Gupta, Leader, Energy and Environmental Affairs, Trane India, said.
Trane, which is a heating, ventilating and air-conditioning products and systems services company, is a supporter of the ‘Clinton Climate Initiative’, launched here less than two years ago.
Mr Gupta told Business Line over telephone that the company’s integrated comfort system was received well by the hospitality sector and offices (the IT and ITeS companies) among others. “Corporates can save at least 40-50 per cent of their energy bills by maintaining their building management systems and another 20 per cent by effective lighting in the building. It is, therefore, in their best interest that they install energy efficient systems in the building,” he said.
Stating that the company offered such building management solutions — both for existing building (an exhaustive approach) and for upcoming buildings — he said “We offer optimised solutions, which adhere with compliance norms. And if such systems are maintained, the life-cycle of the equipment would be good and would lead to greater savings on energy.”
He conceded that there was some slackness in the construction space. “But we have enough projects on hand. The ‘green’ building concept is still at its nascent stage here, but the growth opportunities in this space are phenomenal,” he said.
