Madurai to host industrial expo

Madurai, Dec. 2 An industrial exhibition Indexpo 2008 will be held at Tamukkan grounds here from December 13 to 16.

Approved by the India Trade Promotion Organisation, New Delhi, the expo is to be organised by the Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (Maditssia).

The aim is to impart knowledge on the latest developments in technical and technologies in various fields and inculcate entrepreneurship in the mind of youngsters and make Madurai an industrialised city, the Association President, Mr P.T. Krishnamoorthy, said at a press conference here.

Participants from across the country are setting up stalls displaying machineries from general engineering products, fabrication, hydraulics and pneumatics, machine tools, agricultural products, chemical based products, automobiles and automobile components, handicrafts, food-based industries, printing and packaging etc.

An air-conditioned bay with 100 stalls and also ventilated non-A/c stalls with amenities of international standard are being set up. An exclusive stall for showcasing local talents will also be there, he further said.

The Indexpo Chairman, Mr Rm.Lakshminarayanan, said the exhibition could help in the emergence of many ancillary industries in the region.

A one-day seminar on Lean Six Sigma for Business Process Improvement will be held on December 14, for the benefit of entrepreneurs, engineers and executives, especially in the MSME sector. Another seminar on Winning Tenders, will be held on December 16 to horn the skills in negotiation to secure supply orders and win tenders. The exhibition will be open for business visitors from 11 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. and for the public from 4.30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
