‘Skill Registry to cover more sectors’

Hyderabad, Dec. 2 The National Skill Registry, being developed by Nasscom with the help of NSDL Database Management for IT and ITES sector, may soon cover financial and insurance sectors too.

At present, the Registry comprises authentic database of pre-verified resumes of 3.70 lakh IT professionals or those who seek jobs in the sector. The information can be accessed by the employers on getting the nod from the individuals, who actually own the data.

Mr Som Mittal, President of Nasscom, said that companies will soon insist the job seekers to provide the National Skill Registry number that saves them from going for a rigorous background checks.

“Checking the veracity of the documents provided by the job seekers has become a daunting task for the companies. We at the Registry will take up this task ,” said Mr Gopa Kumar T. N., Vice-President of NSDL Database Management.
