Our Bureau

New Delhi, Dec 2 The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has told the private mobile operators that they were not doing enough to improve their quality of service by augmenting interconnection with State-owned BSNL.

The regulator, during a recent meeting with the operators, pointed out that while the congestion levels were beyond prescribed limits in 178 locations, the private operators have sought additional interconnection links from BSNL in only 9 cities.

Point of interconnection is that physical place where the telecom network of one operator connects with that of the otherTRAI has now asked the service providers to explain why they have not asked for more interconnection links to improve the congestion levels in all 178 locations.
