New Products & Services Tag Heuer to launch handsets in India
Mr Jean-Christophe Babin, President & CEO, TAG Heuer, in the Capital on Wednesday. Our Bureau New Delhi, Dec. 3 Swiss luxury watch maker Tag Heuer, part of the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy group, is now going to offer premium hi-tech handsets in the domestic market. After making a splash with its range of watches, the luxury timepiece major is wooing consumers with its range of eyewear and premium handsets to be launched in India by April 2009. “We will be introducing both the range in India by April next. The phone will be technologically superior and not just a fashion accessory. We will retain the exclusivity of the brand by retailing from exclusive Tag Heuer boutiques in India,” Mr Jean-Christophe Babin, President and CEO Tag Heuer, told Business Line. The handset ‘Meridiist’, to be priced at Rs 2.7 lakh, will compete with other upmarket brands such as Nokia’s Vertu. Speaking on watch retailing, Mr Babin said India will continue to remain core focus area for the company as the market here as grown about 30 per cent as compared to last year.
