Anti-dumping Dumping probe on HR, CR stainless steel coil imports Our Bureau Kolkata, Dec. 4 The Directorate-General of Anti Dumping and Allied Duties initiated investigation last week to probe into import of cold rolled and hot rolled stainless steel coils from China, the European Union and the US, among other countries may take a year to be completed. Addressing reporters on the sidelines of a seminar – “Understanding WTO Agreements” - organised by FICCI here on Thursday, Mr Mukesh Bhatnagar, Director, Ministry of Commerce & Industry said, “The investigation, initiated last week, would look into alleged dumping of the items into India and provisions of imposing higher anti-dumping duties on them.” He said that pending completion of the investigation, provisional duties could be levied within 60 days of start of investigation, he said. Recently, 5 per cent of basic duty was imposed by India on import of steel products. The inter-ministerial meeting to be held in the middle of the current month would look into ways of curbing the surge in the import of sensitive products, influencing developed countries to reduce cotton subsidies and bridging the gap between countries on issues of Non Agricultural Market Access in order to conclude the Doha round of negotiations, he said. Demand for sectoral issues, which was not a part of the original mandate, could also be incorporated into the new modality, he added. More Stories on : Anti-dumping | Steel | Exports & Imports
