IT parks at Madurai, Tiruchi ‘fully occupied’

Madurai, Dec. 6 The information technology parks coming up at Madurai and Tiruchi are fully occupied and in the IT Special Economic Zone, coming up at Tirunelveli, the first phase is overbooked and in the second phase, 190 acres are available, according to Mr P.W.C. Davidar, State Secretary, Information Technology.

The land cost is Rs 15 lakh per acre and land would be available to companies that are 100 per cent export-oriented, he said while addressing a session on ‘Connect Madurai 2008’, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, Madurai Zone, as part of SPEED 2008 Conference, held here on Friday.

Mr T.T. Narendran, Dean, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, stressed on the need for the industry to contribute towards improving the quality of education in order to avoid dearth of qualified personnel in the future.
