Pune, Dec. 7 The Pune-based DSK Digital Technologies launched its modern in-flight entertainment technology for luxury cars for the first time in the country.

Talking to presspersons, Mr Milind Kshirsagar, Managing Director of DSK Digital Technologies, said with this one could enjoy the entertainment system in their cars, buses and vans, similar to that of the aeroplanes. He said the company has joined hands with the Taiwan-based Funtoro, an affiliate of MSI (Micro Star International), which would be providing the in-flight entertainment kits to DSK Digital.

Marketed under the name of FunStar, the Vehicle Media on Demand (VMOD) solutions would be integrated in the system that includes car audio/video, car safety and security, mobile office and telematics. It would be available in three variants, FunStar standard, FunStar Pro and FunStar Srv. The basic model would be priced at Rs 80,000, he said.

The FunStar Standard would have a black box and two monitors, FunStar Pro would have up to 12 monitors and FunStar Srv is ideal for buses and trains, he said. DSK Digital is the distributor for these products and is looking at sales of around 4,000 to 5,000 units by the end of the first year.

MSI is a public limited company with a turnover of $2,856 million in 2007 and is estimating a turnover of $3,490 million, a growth of 22 per cent.

MSI is into manufacture of mainboards, notebooks, consumer electronic products, multimedia etc and Funtoro is into the design, manufacture and marketing of high-end Entertainment and telematics systems in vehicles.
