Roadways Goods vehicle owners’ union hails cut in diesel prices Our Bureau Kolkata, Dec. 8 Mr B. Channa Reddy, President of All-India Confederation of Good Vehicles Owners’ Association (ACOGOA), in a statement issued on Monday, welcomed the reduction in diesel price, expressing hope that the reduction would help achieve better utilisation of an estimated 4.3 million goods vehicles in the country. Prior to this, a large number of vehicles were either idling or accepting consignments at a much reduced freight, he said. Mr Reddy felt that the good transport industry would receive a bigger boost if a few other steps were also taken such as making available diesel at a uniform rate throughout the country, easier credit to the truckers and repeal of import duty on radial tyres for both trucks and buses.
