More on Earth: A view of the ‘Earth Exploration Hall’ at Science City in Kolkata on Monday. The year 2008 is the International Year of Planet Earth, which was decided by the United Nations at its 60th General Assembly and honouring the resolution, the National Council of Science Museums has set up the facility to enlighten the people about the planet. The hall is located inside a 25-metre diahemispherical dome with six-metre diameter solid globe as its central exhibit. Science City draws about 14 lakh visitors every year.
