BOA clears 22 SEZ proposals

New Delhi, Dec 8

The Board of Approvals (BOA) on Monday approved 22 Special economic zone (SEZ) proposals including that of Emaar MGF Land in Tamil Nadu and Dr Reddy's Laboratories in Andhra Pradesh. While 19 `formal' approvals were given, three were given `in-principle' clearances. The BOA meeting was chaired by Commerce Secretary, Mr G.K. Pillai. In all, 38 proposals were considered. Nine of the proposals cleared related to IT and ITsS sector. Emaar MGF Land would be developing an IT-ITeS zone at Coimbatore and Dr Reddy Laboratories SEZ in Andhra Pradesh would come up at Srikakulam district. Hindustan Newsprint is promoting an SEZ for pulp and paper in Kerala. - Our Bureau
