Two/Three Wheelers Marketing - Outlook Industry & Economy - Excise and Customs Bike prices to come down Our Bureau New Delhi, Dec. 9 Two-wheeler companies such as Hero Honda, Bajaj and Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India, announced that they would lower their bike prices in the range of Rs 1,000-2,100 across different models. Hero Honda said with immediate effect its bike prices have dropped in the range of Rs 1,000-2,000. Bajaj, the second-largest two-wheeler company, has cut up to Rs 2,100. In case of Bajaj’s three-wheelers, prices have come down by Rs 4,400. In a company statement, Bajaj said, “The company is in touch with dealers to understand and resolve the implications for dealer inventory.” Similarly, a Hero Honda dealer said it was yet to get any indication from the company on any kind of compensation on the existing inventory. According to Mr Naresh Rattan, Vice-President (Marketing), Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India, the subsidiary of Honda Motor Co (Japan), it would also implement a price cut of Rs 1,300-1,800 due to the reduction in excise duty. Car makers such as Honda and Hindustan Motors, which were yet to take a decision, also announced lowering of their prices. Honda Siel Cars India has postponed its decision on the hike on all models except its sports utility vehicle CR-V. While it slashed prices of City, Civic and Accord in the range of Rs 19,000-28,000, CR-V would cost a lakh more. Hindustan Motors said that Ambassador would now cost Rs 10,000- 14,500 less depending on the model.
