SBT, United India tie up

State Bank of Travancore (SBT) has entered into a tie-up with United India Insurance Company to provide personal accident insurance cover to its savings account holders. The insurance cover is of Rs 5 lakh at a subsidised premium of Rs 50 per annum per account holder. This works out to just 0.01 per cent of the sum assured or 14 paise a day, according to a statement from the bank. All savings bank accountholders, including NRIs, will be eligible to join the insurance schem e. The scheme will, at present, be available at 101 select branches of SBT and by January 2009 it will be available at all the 715 branches of the bank across the country.
