Trends Industry & Economy - Consumer Electronics Samsung drops prices on LCD, home appliances Our Bureau New Delhi, Dec. 11 Samsung has reduced the prices of LCD televisions and home appliances. It has effected price cuts ranging from Rs 500 for a 22” LCD model to Rs 10,000 for a Samsung 52” LCD model. The Samsung LCD television range comprising 19 models in the screen sizes between 22” and 52” is priced in the range from Rs 18,500 to Rs 2.29 lakh. The company has also announced a price drop on its Plasma TV models to the extent of Rs 1,000 to Rs 6,000. Samsung has tied up with Airtel DTH to announce a promotion offer on its Panel TVs. Consumers buying any Samsung Panel TV get an Airtel Digital Set Top Box with five months subscription and installation free. The offer runs pan-India and is valid till December 31, 2008. On home appliances, it has announced an average price drop of two per cent for its refrigerators, which will translate into a reduction of Rs 50 to Rs 250. Semi-automatic and fully automatic washing machines have seen a price drop of around 1.5 per cent, which will translate into a drop of Rs 70-Rs 340.
