New Business States - Tamil Nadu Karadi Tales getting orders from new markets abroad L.N. Revathy Coimbatore, Dec. 15 Having released audio books in 60 different titles bringing alive the Indian heritage, mythology and a new genre of rhymes for Indian children, Karadi Tales has hit the overseas market. The company, Karadi Tales Company Pvt Ltd, today exports audio books to nine countries. According to its Director, Ms Shobha Viswanath, over 400 schools across the US have included these books as part of their curricular activities. “We are getting orders from newer markets abroad,” she said and pointed out that the bilingual stories, specially scripted, serves as powerful tool for language learning. “Some Government schools in India are also looking at these, because the text in two languages (English and Hindi or Tamil) placed side by side, allows cross reference and an intuitive language learning process,” she explained. “Such books not only provide edutainment but in times of stressful education create space for ‘reading for fun’. The reading habit is getting weaker with people spending more time in front of the television. To inculcate the reading habit, we are planning a ‘Will you read with me?’ campaign from January by roping in icons such as cricketer Rahul Dravid, cine artists Madhavan and Vidya Balan and a few others,” she said. The company has also brought out a product — Dreaming Fingers — for the visually challenged. More Stories on : New Business | Books | Tamil Nadu
