Astra Microwave bags ISRO deal

Hyderabad, Dec. 17

Astra Microwave Products Ltd has bagged an order of Rs 13.8 crore from Antrix Corporation Ltd, the commercial arm of the Department of Space. The Hyderabad-based provider of microwave wireless technologies for defence, space, and telecommunications would have to supply, install and commission unmanned automatic remote weather stations in 500 locations across the country. Scheduled to be commissioned before May 2009, the weather stations will feed live data via satellite to the Indian Space Research Organisation’s central servers on a 24x7 basis, a company press release said. “Coming within four months of the India Meteorological Department’s Rs 25.5-crore order for automatic weather stations, the new contract is a vindication of the company’s capabilities on technology, manufacturing, and delivery,” said Mr B. Malla Reddy, Managing Director, Astra Microwave. — Our Bureau
