Hyderabad, Dec. 19 The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, directed the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to reduce development charges for villages and municipalities for settlements added in erstwhile HUDA limits and now under HMDA jurisdiction.

Presiding over HMDA board meeting, Dr Reddy, who is also Chairman of HMDA, directed the officials to reduce development charges by 75 per cent of the existing rates.

The Chief Minister also asked the HMDA to prepare a comprehensive master plan, including use of land, transport (road, railways and footpaths), using latest GIS mapping techniques for telephone lines and gas pipelines for the HMDA area.

Outsourcing help

A release from the Chief Minister’s Office said that the Government expanded the jurisdiction of the erstwhile HUDA by adding 625 villages.

The release also said the meeting approved the proposal to recruit necessary staff for the HMDA by outsourcing.

“The HMDA also has a green channel to clear the building permissions on fast track, with a special processing fee. For scrutiny of ownership documents, the applicant can approach any one of the empanelled retired revenue officials or advocates and submit ownership documents along with their certificate with the application,” the release said.

It added that on receipt of the above, it has been proposed that the technical approval will be released to the local body within six working days.

The green channel, however, is optional and applicants who do not want to avail themselves of the service may submit their application in the normal course.

Office locations

The board also approved the proposal to delegate the development control powers to the GHMC, Sangareddy and Bhongir municipalities and also to the executive officers or panchayats secretaries of the villages falling with the Hyderabad Metropolitan region.

The release also said that the central office of the HMDA is proposed to be located near the Hitex grounds and four zonal offices will be established at Shankarpally, Medchal, Ghatkesar and Shamshabad. There would be 8 service centres.

The release said the Chief Minister also decided to reserve 30 per cent of the posts of S.G.Ts working in primary schools for D.Ed candidates. The remaining 70 per cent will be open to both the B.Eds and D.Eds.

The move is expected to benefit the D.Ed candidates in the State.
