Human Resources Allahabad Bank to hire 2,000 more Our Bureau Mangalore, Dec. 19 The Kolkata-based Allahabad Bank is planning to recruit around 2,000 people. This is in addition to around 1,000 people already recruited during the current year. Addressing presspersons here on Friday, Mr K.R. Kamath, Chairman and Managing Director of the bank, said that the bank is in the process of recruiting around 1,000 clerical staff and 1,000 officers. The process of recruitment is likely to be over by September. During this year, the bank has already recruited more than 1,000 people. Of them, nearly 600 are officers and 560 are clerical staff, he said. The bank, which has a good presence in States such as Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh, is planning to increase its presence in southern and western parts of the country. The bank will fill the gaps in these areas by opening more branches. Explaining this, he said the bank opened four branches in Andhra Pradesh during the fiscal and it has 11 licences there. In Kerala, it opened two branches and has licences for two more. It has submitted an application for three more licences in Kerala. The bank opened six branches in Karnataka during the fiscal, and has licence for one more.It has sought 12 more licences in Karnataka. Focusing on Karnataka and Kerala, the bank plans to open a zonal office in Bangalore, he said. Tamil Nadu got seven branches during the year and there are licences for 11 more.
