Pedigree relaunches vegetarian dog food

Our Bureau

Ahmedabad, Dec. 19 Whoever had been scoffing at the idea of vegetarian dogs will now have to eat their words. Pet food brand Pedigree has relaunched its vegetarian brand of dog food, sensing a neglect of the category.

The share of branded vegetarian food for dogs is potentially 15 per cent of the entire dog food market in India. Though there are only around 35 to 40 lakh pet dogs in Indian households, making the market small and niche, there are many owners who prefer putting their dogs on the same vegetarian diet as them.
