Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 23 A cashew festival will be held in Kollam as part of the ongoing Grand Kerala Shopping Festival.

The festival styled, ‘Cashewfest’, will feature around 40 stalls being put up by Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation, Kerala State Cashew Workers’ Apex Industrial Cooperative Society (Capex) and the other cashew producers in the State. The festival will kick off from December 27.

The festival will showcase various cashew products from major cashew processing companies as also from traditional processing units. The organisers have made arrangements for domestic as well as foreign tourists to convince themselves of the quality standard of the products and ensure that products reached their markets, according to Mr K.N. Satish, Director of the shopping festival.

The tourists will also be able to visit the cashew processing units and see for themselves the operations there. Several domestic and foreign tourists had already made enquiries about the ‘Cashewfest’, he said.

A food festival and cultural events will also be held as part of the ‘Cashewfest’. The District Tourism Promotion Council has announced tour packages as prizes for selected visitors to the festival.
