Spot rubber stays firm

Kottayam, Dec. 27 The rubber prices were firm on Saturday. In spot, sheet rubber improved to Rs 71 from Rs 69 a kg on fresh buying and short covering. According to sources, covering groups remained extremely aggressive on the grade following the sharp gains in domestic futures during the weekend session. The market made all-round gains with comparatively better volumes.

Futures up

In futures, RSS 4 flared up at its January contract to Rs 74.06 (71.63), February to Rs 74.09 (71.71) and March contract to Rs 74.03 (71.90) a kg on National Multi Commodity Exchange ( NMCE).

Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 71 (69); RSS-5: 70 (67.50); ungraded: 67.50 (65); ISNR 20: 66 (65) and latex 60 per cent: 47.50 (47).
