Strong action needed

In the never ending series of conflicts in West Asia, both Israel and its Arab neighbours indulge in violence and cause enormous damage to property. Usually if a person is killed by enemies from its border or by a terrorist organisation, the retaliation of the Israelites is swift and strong.

Backed by strong lobbies and finance by the US and Europe, Israel gets away without any punitive action against it. India has been at the receiving end for many years by elements from across the border. Serial bombings by terrorist outfits from across the border have caused loss of lives and damage to property. Politicians condemn such dreadful incidents but, Barring strong words, they have failed to take any strong action.

We have always been restrained by the world’s super power and other powerful nations. However, whenever Israel resorts to powerful retaliation or even unprovoked aggression, its friends don’t even take notice of it. All actions by Israel are overlooked and condoned.

If diplomatic talks and persuasion do not bring the desired results, India should follow the example of Israel. The super power and other nations should also understand that they cannot preach double standards. K.Venkataraman Mumbai
