Mega farmers' market in Dindigul

Madurai, Dec. 29

The State Transport Minister Mr.K.N.Nehru inaugurated a mega farmers' market at Oddanchatram in Dindigul district recently. Constructed at a cost of Rs 3.08 crore on a 17 acre site, the facility is expected to enable farmers to sell their produce directly to buyers in Tamil Nadu and Kerala without the intervention of middlemen and commission agents. Farmers in Coimbatore, Erode, Karur, Tiruchi. Dindigul and Theni used to being their vegetables to the wholesale market and seventy percent of the arrivals used to be sent to Kerala. - Our Correspondent
