Rubber Spot rubber rises on covering buys Our Correspondent Kottayam, Dec. 29 The physical rubber prices showed a better mood on Monday. Sheet rubber flared up sharply to Rs 73.50 from Rs 71 a kg mainly on covering purchases. The sentiments remained bullish following a positive closing in the domestic and international futures. According to observers there were no revised quotes from the tyre sector. The volumes were moderate. Futures firmRSS 4 firmed up further at its January futures to Rs 76 (74.06), February to Rs 76.15 (74.09), March to Rs 76.01 (74.03) and April to Rs 74.64 (73.54) a kg on National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE). RSS 3 improved at its January futures to ¥134.5 (Rs 72.26) from ¥129.4, February to ¥136 (130.4), March to ¥134.7 (130), April to ¥135.5 (130), May to ¥135.5 (131.8) and June to ¥137 (131.6) a kg on TOCOM. The grade (spot) slipped to Rs 66.46 (67.37) a kg at Bangkok. Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 73.50 (71); RSS-5: 71 (70); ungraded: 69 (67.50); ISNR 20: 68.50 (66) and latex 60 per cent: 49 (47.50).
