Our Bureau

Kochi, Dec. 30 The State Industries Minister, Mr Elamaram Kareem, will inaugurate the Food Processing Incubation Centre and Water Supply Scheme at Kinfra Food Processing Park, Kakkancherry on January 1, 2009.

The Kinfra Food Processing Park is coming up on 70 acres of picturesque land and one of the main advantages is its proximity to Kozhikode Airport.

The park offers all that a food processing unit needs: fully developed land is available for 90-year lease, uninterrupted power supply from the 33 KV sub-station with underground cable network for power supply, round-the-clock water supply from a 3.5 MLD water treatment plant and rainwater-harvesting facilities to recharge water sources to ensure that there is no shortage of water.

About 16 entrepreneurs have already started building their outlets in the park. They include Parisons Foods (P) Ltd which runs a vegetable oil refining unit, Rime Rich Foods Ltd which has launched its Papai Ice cream. At the food processing park, the SEZ status will pave the way for the establishment of a host of industries specialising in the export of the State’s ethnic foods.

The 30 acres of SEZ in food processing industries park is now ready for allotment.

Kinfra proposes to set-up a product-specific special economic zone with world-class infrastructure facilities for food processing, using the facilities available at the KINFRA Food Processing Park, Kakkancherry.

Approval has obtained from the Centre for setting up the food processing SEZ in 30 acres at the Food Processing Park, Kakkancherry.

The Incubation Centre is a product development centre, where investors / entrepreneurs can state their ideas to the incubation centre to will develop products for them. They can test market the products, provide feedback to incubation centre for improvement and thus standardise the products. Once products are standardised, investor or entrepreneur can set up his own unit. The operating agency for incubation centre is Kitchen Outsource India Pvt. Ltd.
